Industrial electricity costs have become one of the biggest competitiveness issues facing UK manufacturers, so the government is taking action. However, the relief schemes designed to address it sit across different application routes, eligibility tests and government departments. Identifying which schemes a business qualifies for, and building the evidence to support a claim, is not a straightforward exercise.

Myriad has built Energy Relief Vault to solve that problem. It's a dedicated platform, backed by Myriad's 20 years of experience in government incentives, that combines specialist advisory support with software to help manufacturers identify, evidence and claim the energy relief they're entitled to.

What Energy Relief Vault does

Energy Relief Vault is built specifically for manufacturing and engineering businesses operating in England, Scotland or Wales. Rather than treating each energy relief scheme as a separate exercise, the platform gives businesses a single route through the full range of industrial energy reliefs currently available, starting with an initial assessment of which schemes a business is likely to qualify for.

That matters because eligibility for these schemes depends on several tests at once, company registration, sector classification, the specific products manufactured, site location and electricity consumption, and getting any one of them wrong can mean a claim is rejected or a business misses a scheme it was actually entitled to.

The schemes covered

Energy Relief Vault currently covers four industrial energy relief schemes:

  • British Industrial Competitiveness Scheme (BICS), the first live on the platform
  • Climate Change Levy Relief (CCL)
  • Climate Change Agreements (CCA)
  • British Industry Supercharger (EII)

Each scheme has its own eligibility criteria and its own relationship to the others. The British Industry Supercharger, for example, generally provides more comprehensive relief than BICS, and a business cannot claim relief for the same costs under both. Working out which scheme, or combination of schemes, delivers the strongest position is exactly the kind of assessment Energy Relief Vault is designed to handle.

BICS: the first opportunity live on the platform

BICS is the featured opportunity on Energy Relief Vault. The scheme exempts eligible manufacturers from a share of the indirect costs associated with the Renewables Obligation, Feed-in Tariffs and the Capacity Market, costs that are charged to electricity suppliers and passed on to businesses through their bills. Energy Relief Vault frames the potential benefit as worth up to 25% off an eligible site's electricity bill, depending on how much of that site's electricity use qualifies.

Eligibility runs on several tests together. A business needs to be registered on Companies House and operating in Great Britain, sit within one of the eligible manufacturing sectors, manufacture products that qualify, and use at least 33 megawatt-hours of grid-supplied electricity a year at the relevant site. Meeting the sector and product tests is often where businesses need the most support, since eligibility is defined down to specific SIC and Harmonised System codes rather than a general description of “manufacturing.”

The application window is tight. BICS opens for applications on 1 October 2026 and closes on 30 November 2026 for relief starting in 2027, and applications cannot be amended once submitted. Businesses that want to apply need their evidence (like electricity bills, MPAN details and production records) in order well before the window closes.

How the process works

Energy Relief Vault is designed to keep the evidence-gathering burden on the business as light as possible:

  1. You provide the records you already hold. Electricity bills, MPAN details and production records are usually all that's needed to start.
  2. Energy Relief Vault’s specialists do the technical work. That includes structuring the evidence, resolving sector and product classifications, and calculating the correct allocation for each site.
  3. You approve the final position. Before anything is submitted, you review and sign off on the application Energy Relief Vault has prepared.
  4. Energy Relief Vault manages the submission. The application is prepared and submitted on your behalf, with the platform tracking progress through to a decision.

A free, three-minute indicative assessment is available on the Energy Relief Vault site for businesses that want a quick read on where they stand before committing to anything further.

What it costs

There's no upfront fee to use Energy Relief Vault. Billing is calculated quarterly, based on the benefit actually verified for your business, at 10% of the quarterly benefit above £25,000 under the Standard service, or 20% under the Advanced service. In practice, that means the cost is tied directly to the relief you receive rather than to the time spent assessing your eligibility.

Key takeaways

  • Energy Relief Vault is live now, covering BICS, CCL, CCA and the British Industry Supercharger for manufacturers in England, Scotland and Wales.
  • BICS applications open 1 October 2026 and close 30 November 2026, with relief starting from April 2027 for RO and FiT exemptions and October 2027 for Capacity Market exemptions.
  • Eligibility depends on several tests together, company registration, sector, product, location and electricity consumption, so an early assessment is worth having even if you're unsure whether you qualify.
  • There's no upfront fee. Fees are calculated quarterly against the verified benefit.

If your business manufactures in the UK and you haven't reviewed which industrial energy relief schemes you're entitled to, this is a good moment to do it, particularly with the BICS application window opening in October. Start your free assessment on Energy Relief Vault.
