What makes this occasion even more remarkable is the fact that our CEO, Barrie Dowsett not only participated but also serves as the Chairman of the club.
In this blog post, we are excited to share our involvement in this event, highlighting our dedication to Welford Victoria FC and the impact our CEO's leadership has had on the community.
On Saturday, July 15th, Welford Victoria FC hosted their highly anticipated annual fundraiser at the Sportsfield, amidst a mix of beautiful and challenging weather conditions. The event, which attracted over 360 guests, including enthusiastic young fans who entered for free, aimed to raise funds for two remarkable charities. As proud sponsors and supporters of Welford Victoria FC, Myriad Associates is delighted to share the highlights of this day and the positive impact it has had on the community.
The festivities commenced with a special match featuring the Welford Victoria Veterans, affectionately known as the "old ones," competing against a team of Welford Victoria Legends, who boasted an even more seasoned lineup. Following this nostalgic clash, the day unfolded with two thrilling junior tournaments and two senior matches, showcasing teams from Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. Alongside the football action, guests were treated to a vibrant atmosphere, with a DJ booth, a 60ft inflatable, and a soft play area that kept the children entertained.
While intermittent rain showers interrupted the otherwise sunny and windy day, the spirit of the event remained undampened. Welford Victoria FC extends their gratitude to the adult teams from Spratton Football Club and Gilmorton Football Club, as well as the junior teams from Houghton Rangers FC, North Kilworth FC, Spratton & Pitsford FC, Studs FC, and Harborough Town FC, for their enthusiastic participation and contribution to the day's success.
With the aim of making a meaningful impact, 50% of the event's proceeds, totalling an impressive £937.50, will be donated to Hope Against Cancer. Myriad Associates has been a long-standing supporter of this local charity, which has been dedicated to discovering, delivering, and sharing hope against cancer since 2003. Additionally, 25% of the funds raised will be donated to the Evelina London Children's Charity, supporting Jon Nottingham's fundraising efforts. Jon, a player in the Veterans' team, is running the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October to raise funds for the charity, as his daughter Immie battles the rare neurological autoimmune disorder, Opsoclonus Myoclonus Syndrome (OMS). Their commitment to organising the event, managing various tasks such as running the bar, DJ booth, admissions gate, barbecue, football tournaments, and overall logistics, deserves immense appreciation. Barrie's goal not only exemplifies his passion for the sport but also underscores his active involvement and dedication to the club. It serves as a testament to his leadership and commitment to making a positive impact on and off the field.
