This funding route is to deliver the UK Government’s Horizon Europe guarantee. Specifically it covers funding for successful applicants to the EIC 2021 Pathfinder, Transition and Accelerator calls.
Since its departure from the European Union, there's been much uncertainty around whether the UK will still have access to Horizon Europe going forward. In order to provide some clarity, back in November 2021 the government announced a new scheme that guarantees funding for successful applicants to the first wave of Horizon Europe grant awards. Such grants will still be offered, regardless of the UK's association with Horizon Europe.
Although formalisation has been delayed, Horizon Europe Guarantee grants are a short-term solution to help the situation. To provide reassurance, the government has guaranteed funding for the first wave of eligible, successful applicants to Horizon Europe if they are unable to sign their grant agreements with the EU. This guarantee includes the EIC 2021 calls.
Applicants will be eligible to register with UKRI for the Horizon Europe guarantee through this route if they are a UK-based organisation which has been successful through an EIC 2021 call, and which for the consortium grants remains a partner on the project and is listed on the EIC grant agreement as an Associate Partner.
Further details are available here.
The application is split into 3 sections called Project details, Application questions and Finances.
All the details and criteria about each section can be found on the Horizon Europe Guarantee – EIC 2021 page of the Gov.uk website.
